And topping all that off: a particularly lovely canopy (solid brass with a gold finish) and solid brass chain. Do I need to mention my enthusiasm for the “rosettes,” which hold the bowl to the chain?

The bowl’s nicely signed and in perfect condition. Chain can be taken out (quite easily) for a shorter drop, but I don’t have additional links to make it hang longer. As shown it hangs down 18 inches total. I might mention that the interior of the bowl has a layer of opalescent glass, an extraordinarily rare addition to an art glass bowl. Unique French designs always are accompanied by a “cost.” In this instance, that gorgeous canopy is too small to cover an American electrical box. So, your electrician will buy a “box cover” at your local hardware store, drill holes for the pipe and cords to go through and voila! You’ll paint it out to match the ceiling and if you’re especially industrious, spackle the edge of the round box cover to make it disappear altogether.
