This is a large vintage ginger jar. A Chinese, ceramic lidded vase, dating to the late Art Deco period, circa 1940.
Impressive proportion, providing a broad canvas for the profuse decoration
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
Embossed ceramic beneath a light glaze with a full colour palette
Foliate patterns adorn each surface with hexagonal shields to fascia
Gilt borders segregate the medallion motif from the dark blue ground
Domed lid removes to show an opening diameter of 12cm (4.75'')
