Add a unique design touch to any room with this authentic Murano sommerso art glass bowl, hand made in Italy in the mid century era. This beautiful 1960's art glass bowl was made with the 'Sommerso' technique in a deep black colored glass with pops of colors swirling throughout and a contrasting crystal clear rim. It is both understated and elegantly simple resulting is a beautiful piece of vintage Italian art glass. It is very bold, substantial, and heavy. “Sommerso” in Italian means literally "submerged" or "sunken glasses". It is a fairly difficult technique, but giving a charming effect of three-dimensionality and brightness in the glass structure. The aim of sommerso is to create an illusion of deepness, and to add a glow between the glass layers. It boasts a free form shape with wavy edges and a deep enough bowl shape to serve or display a wide variety of items.
