This 100" inch long late 19th century dark brown altar table with the hand carved scrolling clouds spandrels is an striking console table in large living room, dining room or hall way. This altar table with dark brown color was handed made around 19th century by the craftsman from Hebei province,The scrolling clouds spandrels are one of tradition Chinese spandrel carving designs. Nice patinas enhance beauty and antiquity of this Chinese long console table.
Those types of long narrow tables with everted flanges were usually placed in the formal central hall of a traditional Chinese house. It was frequently positioned against the back wall of the main hall under the hanging painting of ancestors. The food, flowers, and incenses were placed on table for the ancestors to protect the residents.
