Vintage Home is pleased to offer this antique Folk Art oak dresser from the late 1800s. The piece was curated from a family member who shared with us it was handmade in the late 1800s by an ancestor who migrated to America from Scandinavia. The dresser mirror has a beautifully hand carved accent at the top that has a Danish Gustavian style. The mirror frame is very tall with the piece measuring 78”. The mirror will be removed for shipping. The dresser is more than 100 years old and in good condition but has antique imperfections and wear. The oak top has a crack. The backside and inner drawer wood also have cracks, warping and wear, consistent with age and use. The mirror glass has discoloration which is common for a piece this old. We recommend replacing the glass. The dresser is very sturdy except for the four casters. We recommend either replacing the casters or simply removing them. We love the Danish design on the top and on the backside, there are several drips of color that tell some of the history of the piece. Along the way it’s been finished in a dark stain, a red and a mint green before someone striped it to its current natural wood Carmel color. A beautiful antique piece.
