This is a prized original lithograph created by Robert Rauschenberg in 1968 and printed and published by Quarry, Local One, Amalgamated Lithographers of America and Color Lithographers Services, New York. The print is an exceptional example of Rauschenberg’s signature collage aesthetic of combining images sourced from everyday life --newspapers, art book reproductions of old master paintings, classical sculpture, illustrations from scientific journals, together with bold brushstrokes, all coalescing into a powerful visual composition which seems to have a hidden narrative. All of the multiple layers of images and the bright red brushstrokes are clearly captured in this high quality lithograph, a strong impression with finely nuanced details. less
