Offering a compelling trio of American Modernist tables from the 30s or 40s. These were "built to last" with solid, heavy wood and proven joining techniques.
They probably weren't originally sold in black but tastes being what they are, their owners started painting them black (and calling it "black lacquer" which technically it is not!). The process (if done correctly) is enormously expensive.
Of course they look fabulous in black and work so well in "modern" settings.
This set was given the full (expensive) treatment, but it's been more than lightly used. There are (relatively shallow) scratches in many of the surfaces and some chips to the edges (showing the underlying bondo in white). These edge chips are easily covered up with a black paint stick. As for the scratches and whatnot, it's my thought that some polishing compound would mitigate many of them and return them close to their mirror finish. If not, a new black "skin" can be applied by your local refinisher.
As such, they're being offered at about half what they're priced at right out of the refinisher's.
Measurements: The coffee table stand 16" high and the dimensions of the top are 17 x 34 1/2.
The side tables stand 22 high and the tops measure 12 by 25. less
