The backside shows a groove or opening, whereupon one slides onto serving bowls, thus one can rests spoons in-between the openings thus serving pieces do not slide into the food, which bodes for messy service. A much more refined and simplistic endeavor allows a part gathering to run smoothly. Inset to front is the makers markings, sate "The Sheffield Silver C.," and below states provenance country mad win "silver-plate, Italy." Some minor patina to one of the pieces, otherwise only needs a better cleaning/polishing. a wonderful inclusion for any serving down within dinner, soiree, special occasion or holiday. less
