This " Andy Warhol : Watercolour 1952 - 1960 " very rare first edition hardcover Pop Art museum exhibition art book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The hardcover art book with hot pink matte eggshell finish laminated cover boards is published by Hatje Cantz Verlag, Berlin. Printed in Germany in 2000 on the occasion of the exhibition at The Stadtische Galerie in Ravensburg, Germany. Edited by Thomas Knubben and Tilman Osterwold, with German language texts by Heiner Bastian and Tilman Osterwold.
Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, artworks, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is credited as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.
This beautiful volume highlights the coloured drawings that constitute an independent body of work of fundamental importance in the overall oeuvre of Andy Warhol. These graphic works on paper, produced concurrently with his world-renowned photographic images and silkscreen series were crucial to Warhol's development as an artist.
This publication presents 70 works by Warhol from 1952 to 160 in which watercolours are given free reign. The individual works come partly from The Sammlung Marx Collection in The Hamburger Banhof, Museum fur Genenwart Berlin, and partly from a private collection. Around half of the works in this volume have never been published before.
The rare out of print 1st edition Pop Art exhibition art book measures 6 3/4" W X 9 5/8" H X 3/4" D, with 126 pages. It is printed in premium paper stock featuring 121 illustrations, including 70 full page plates.
