This Andy Warhol Estate very rare vintage 1991 " Whooping Crane - Vanishing Animals " 1986, collector's offset lithograph print is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection. The rare out of print offset lithograph print features an original artwork image of " Whopping Crane - Vanishing Animals " by the American Pop Art master Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ). The unusual and striking color palette of this image was originally published in 1986 in the book titled " Vanishing Animals " by Dr. Kurt Benirschke.
When the state of our planet and the fate of its inhabitants became a cause for alarm, Warhol created art works that reflect that concern. His 1983 Endangered Species portfolio represented a new subject matter for him. The complex and dazzling color combinations make the animal images so irresistibly beautiful that one cannot help becoming involved in the environmentalist message conveyed.
Later Warhol agreed to illustrate a book by Dr. Kurt Benirschke that outlined the history, habits and plight of some of the most endangered animals on earth. The resultant book " Vanishing Animals " was published in 1986. It is an unusual collaboration between artist and scientist that both informs us and inspires us to take action. The image in the print was originally first published in that book.
The print is produced by Te Neues Publishing Company in cooperation with The Estate & The Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts, printed in Germany in 1991. It features the official " AW " Foundation seal of authenticity. This a rare opportunity for true Warhol fans and collectors as this print is long out of print and very scarce to find.
The collector's Pop Art offset lithograph print is printed on high quality smooth finish paper stock with vibrant ink colors in a satin finish. It measures 12" W X 16" H. It is in excellent new condition with very light signs of handling. It has never been framed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price. less
