About The Artist:
Charles Jean-Agard (1866-1950) was born in Dordogne in 1866. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and later in the studio of Leon Bonnat, as well as under fellow artists such as Eugene Carriere, Puvis de Chavannese and Alfred-Philippe Roll.
Agard first exhibited at the Salon des Independants in 1893 and during the 1890's, he exhibited in group shows alongside Henri Lebasque and Georges Seurat. Between 1914 and 1942, he routinely exhibited at the Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts (which had been re-established by artists including Puvis de Chavannes in 1890). less
