Morning glory, a wonderful English name for this flower that grew wild in my childhood home, of which several of these flowers are so beautifully captured on this cloisonne box. The yellow background brings out the bright blue hues of the flowers. The little red ones are nice contrast. A pretty dark blue border encircled the box, and repeated on the sides and a matching yellow band is placed at the base, completing the harmony of the presentation. The maker is Inaba Nanaho of the famous Inaba Cloisonne factory of Japan. The date for this beautiful box is Meiji Period CE 1868 - 1912.
Dimensions are 3 inches in diameter and 1.25 inches high.
