A very rare and fantastic vintage Japanese ceramic sake jug that is wrapped in woven bamboo reed or rice straw and rope. It has a wooden tap. The woven wrapping is painted with beautiful artwork and Patina.
I don’t want to unknot the rope or unwrap the intricately woven reed or grass so I can't see much of the ceramic jug underneath. It is heavy white porcelain or ceramic with an extended tap neck (ceramic and wood). It has its original wooden plug. Everything is completely intact.
Measurement: 9”H x 7” W x 7” D
Remarkably in excellent condition. All painted and stamped artwork and calligraphy is clear and undamaged. Paper labels remain. The wrapping is clean and undamaged.
This piece is beautiful. Fantastic for display and technically it is still fully functional.
