With an expressionist influence, the beautiful lines and simplified forms used to convey this vista reveal spaces where color and texture creatively express the innate character of this wooded landscape. The palette is full of vibrant orange, red, tan, green and an array of blue to violet tones all taken from the wonder of the natural environment.

The piece was inspired by my love for the woods as well as my innate sense of curiosity. There's something about walking along an unknown trail and being guided by the gentleness of nature. Often, for me it's the colors that lead me forward along a trail.

This vista is near a friends house that I was visiting. It was an overcast morning but the glow of oranges and yellows among everything else stood out. I took a picture since there was a light mist that inhibited my painting on site. Instead, I walked away with an image and the intention of creating a painting from the experience as a studio piece.

This was created on a gallery wrapped canvas which is signed and ready for framing or can be hung without a frame. less
