This Sonia Delaunay rare vintage 1989 Modernist custom framed fine art French offset lithograph print " Danseuse " 1919-1923, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Modernist fine art print is published by Nouvelles Images S.A. Editeurs, Lombreuil, France. printed in 1989 in France in an unnumbered limited edition M343. It features an artwork image originally created by Delaunay in 1919-1923 titled " Danseuse / Dancer / Tanzerin / Ballerina / Pochoir 1919-1923 Rhythme Sans Fin ", copyright collection Jacques Damase, ADAGP et Nouvelles Images.
Sonia Delaunay ( 1885 - 1979 ) born Sarah Llintchna Stern, was a Jewish Russian born French artist, who spent most of her working life in Paris. She was formally trained in Russia and Germany before moving to France and expanding her practice to include textile, fashion, and set design. She co-founded The Orphism Art Movement, known for its use of strong colors and geometric shapes, with her artist husband Robert Delaunay and others. She was the first living female to have a retrospective exhibition at The Louvre Museum in Paris in 1964, and in 1975 was named an officer of The French Legion of Honor. Delaunay's work in Modern Design included the concepts of Geometric Abstraction, and the integration of furniture, fabrics, wall coverings, and clothing into her oeuvre of art practices.
Jacques Damase ( 1930 - 2014 ) was a French publisher, art historian, and venerable gallery owner. He created his publishing house at the age of 17, making him the youngest publisher in the world of the time. He published the works of Jean Cocteau, Jean Paul Satre, Paul Eluard, and Charlie Chaplin. His own books included studies on the art works of Braque, Chagall, Picasso, Calder, Max Ernst, Sonia and Robert Delaunay. Damase is one of the few publishers to have had exhibitions of his books in major international libraries and museums including The Centre Pompidou Paris. His famous gallery in Paris exhibited the artworks of Le Corbusier, Jean Cocteau, Jim Dine, hans Arp, and Sonia Delaunay among others.
The rare out print framed Modernist fine art print measures 23 7/8" W X 31 5/8" H X 1 3/8" D. It is printed on premium smooth finish paper stock with vibrant ink colors in a matte finish.
It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern matte eggshell finish black metal slim profile box style frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent condition. The print is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and light to moderate surface wear. it is brand newly custom framed and has never been displayed.
