Very dimensional carved husks ornament the ‘feet.” The original mercury glass mirror plate is softly beveled and beautifully patinated with some areas of de-silvering and the starry sparkle typical of mercury glass. The deep patina of the frame is likewise beautiful; polished red clay bole gleams through the darkened gilding on the surface of the crest. Some of the same amid the gilding and some polished gesso appears on the frame. Very good antique condition with attractive wear throughout, restoration to a leaf tip or two at the very top. Retains original wood back. Late 18th century.
