Between 1967 and 2014 Royal Copenhagen produced demitasse and large coffee mugs designed each year by different Scandinavian artists. Each of the larger-sized cups, such as this one, have stamped Georg Jensen silver .925 medallions on the bottom.
Offered is the 1968 faience cup, the second of the series, designed by Ellen Malmer in shades of blue and white.
It measures 4.125" in diameter, 6" across in width, and 4.5" in height.
"Ellen Malmer (b 1942 - d 2022) received her education from the arts and crafts school in Copenhagen and graduated from the textile line in 1965.
Despite her main focus on textiles, Ellen Malmer was employed by Royal Copenhagen (from 1965 - 1988) as a designer of faience and created bowls, dishes and vases that are a staple in many Danish homes. Among other places, she has exhibited paper collages and textiles at the Seibu Art Gallery in Tokyo, Japan, in 1981 as well as working as an interior designer." less
