I purchased this approximately 24 years ago in Luciano's Antiques in Carmel By the Sea, California. I lived out there at that time in a beautiful Tuscan home and Luciano's was my favorite store to visit. Born in Venice, Italy, on 27 March, 1936, Luciano Tempo, for forty years the proprietor of Luciano Antiques in Carmel, CA. He also had a home outside of Marrakech in Morocco for many years after his partner's death, a grand casbah called Tamadot, which he sold to Richard Branson, who converted it into a boutique hotel. Luciano Antiques was known for decorative objects of scale. Mr. Tempo liked things big, and he had a personality to match. A skillful merchant, he sailed through economic downturns, providing décor for Los Angeles celebrities, Vegas hotels and resorts around the world. This fixture is very heavy, it almost takes two men to move it. I cannot ship it, it will have to go white glove shipping. It's spectacular and I hate to give it up but I am getting ready to downsize at this time in my life so I am parting with some of my own special items. The base is marble or onyx, so that is where all the weight is. less
