We have two very special early 20th century Tarahumara Rarámuri Olla pottery vessels. This first one is with triangular & diamond shaped decoration done in red paint. The body has a flared lip to the pot with a rounded base and graduated side walling.
Tarahumara people of the now present day Mexico, have a rich Native American pottery tradition. This style of pottery represents a craft that Native potters have practiced for centuries. Instead of a wheel, Tarahumara Indian pots are created using the pinch and coil method constructed completely by hand, with each taking a uniquely individual characteristic.
