It is a colored engraving of the "Tulipa Culta" by the renown Pierre Joseph Redouté (1759-1840). Redouté was one of the most talented botanical artists in history. This tulip is a large showy brightly colored flower. The bouquiniste explained to us that this lithograph was printed by hand in 1954, using the original engraving plate by Redouté himself. Zoom in to note the textures, color tones, and fine details of the image. You can see the "stippling" effect from the original plate. The image speaks for itself and we are happy to have found it. Excellent condition. Measures 9 x 13 inches in size. Comes matted in a neutral tone 16 x 20 inch custom mat ready for a standard size frame. Please allow time for custom matting. less
