Yanomami gathering basket decorated with charcoal line drawings on the exterior. Made by the Yanomami tribe during the early 20th century. Their tribe is located in the rainforests of Brazil and Venezuela.
It's a small to medium size basket.
7.5" diameter and 6" height.
They used masticated charcoal pigment to draw their baskets with dots, circles, waves and lines. This basket has drawings of waves and dots which represent river.
It is tightly handwoven of natural fibers with several inner rings for stability and palm leaf straps.
