This Wayne Thiebaud very rare vintage 1979 Pop Art lithograph print " California Cakes " custom framed museum exhibition poster is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The lithograph print Pop Art poster is published by The Oakland Museum : The Museum of California. Printed in 1979 in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the " In Celebration of its First Decade 1969 - 1979 " exhibition. It features an artwork image titled " California Cakes " 1979, collection of the artist.
This is a rare opportunity for true Wayne Thiebaud and Pop Art fans and collectors both as this coveted image lithograph print museum poster is long out of print and very scarce to find.
Wayne Thiebaud ( 1920 - 2021 ) is an American painter widely known for his luscious handling of paint, and brilliant colorful palette of works depicting commonplace objects that combined sensuousness, nostalgia and a hint of melancholy. Thiebaud is associated with The Pop Art Movement because of his interest in objects of mass culture. Although his early works, executed during the 1950's and 1960's, slightly predate the works of classic Pop artists. He uses heavy pigment and exaggerated colors to depict his subjects, and the well defined shadows characteristic of advertisements are almost always included in his work. Art works by Thiebaud are included in the collections of many of the most prestigious museums.
The rare out of print framed museum exhibition poster print measures 19 1/4" W X 26 1/4" H X 1" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern matte eggshell finish black metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and very light minor surface wear.
