Erte, born Romain de Tirtoff (1892 - 1990), was a Russian-born French artist and designer, widely recognized for his glamorous and theatrical designs across various fields including fashion, jewelry, graphic arts, costume, and set design for film, theatre, and opera.
Erte moved to Paris at the age of 20, and his unique and exotic designs quickly gained him recognition in the fashion world. His illustrious career in fashion saw him designing for many of the era’s most renowned couturiers, including Paul Poiret.
In his later years, Erte turned to the creation of limited edition prints and bronze sculptures, which have also received wide acclaim.
