Thirty-one models for cameos, originally owned by a parisian jeweler, c. 1780. Framed as a group of six pieces for the internationally famous - and later infamous - London antiques dealer John Hobbs. Hobbs, the antiques dealer to star designers and celebrities in the 80's and 90's was accused of "manufacturing" antiques by his long-time restorer in 2008. The trust in his business never recovered. John Hobbs died in 2011 and maintained that he never sold altered antiques intentionally.
The framing is possibly from the 1980's and prior to John Hobbs moving his shop from Chelsea to Pimlico Road in 1987. The pieces have been cleaned and the original labels retained. The original interior velvet shadowbox framing is in good shape.
