Antique British mahogany and oak campaign style faux partners desk. It looks exactly the same on both sides, but one side consists entirely of faux drawers which don't open. Absolutely outstanding from every angle and meant to command attention from the center of a room.
The working drawer side has a leather clad oak pull-out flip up writing surface. Also, the top left and right drawers don't have keyholes on the faux drawer side.
Very good overall condition considering age and use, plenty of character. Lovely tooled green leather top. I do believe this desk has been refinished at some point many decades ago. Stylish inset brass drop handles and brass trim capping the top of the base. All eleven working drawers have keyholes and brass four lever locks, however there is NO KEY.
Dovetail construction throughout. All drawers glide smoothly, this desk breaks down into three sections (top and two pedestals) for easy transportation. The left side pedestal has a split in the wood, please see pics. It is stable and does not compromise function. Leather top is worn and has a few stains as would be expected. There is evidence on the bottom of each pedestal that this desk was once on casters, those are long gone. Knee hole width is 19.375" wide.
The brass locks have a hallmark of what looks like H.V. with a mariner's rope knot above enclosed within a shield outline. Unfortunately I don't know the maker. My apologies for the glare and shadows in my pics. Please feel free to ask any questions....thanks for looking. less
