This airline bar cart from the 1930's is a stylish and iconic piece of machine age design. Made with a tubular aluminum frame and triple tier bakelight shelving this cart is a true representation of the era's aesthetics, blending functionality with a sleek and modern look. Unusually, since they were mostly lost or broken, this cart presents a top tier shelf/tray that is removable and usable on its own. There is a slight crack (and only visible upon closer inspection) in the tray but is entirely structurally sound. This piece really is a time capsule of original aviation history as it still has the original manufacturers sticker.
It was a hallmark of the Trans World Airlines (TWA) and was a distinctive feature in their lounges and airport terminals making it a classic piece that's highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of vintage design.
The TWA bar features clean lines, minimalist aesthetics, and a compact yet functional layout- the overall sleek design, with a streamlined, aerodynamic appearance reflects the optimism and forward-looking spirit of the time.
Constructed primarily from bakelight and aluminum, giving it a modern, futuristic look, while the aluminum components, including the handles and wheels, ensure sturdiness and durability.
The primary color of the cart is black, which adds to its elegance and sophistication. The choice of black plastic enhances the cart's durability and gives it a timeless appearance.
The TWA bar cart features wheels, allowing for easy mobility and transportation. These wheels are not just functional but also a design element, adding to the cart's overall mid-century charm. They make it easy to move the cart around, ensuring it can be used for serving guests in different areas of a room or a lounge.
One of the standout features of this bar cart is the removable top. The top serves as a serving board, which can be used to prepare and serve drinks and snacks. This feature adds to the versatility of the cart, making it an excellent choice for both storage and serving.
The cart typically includes multiple tiers - These shelves provide ample space for storing bottles, glassware, and other bar accessories.
The logo Frantz Industries Aero , Los Angeles. is featured on the cart, reminding users of its origin and the airline's iconic status during that era making this bar cart a unique piece
