This Andy Warhol rare vintage 1986 " Satyric Festival Song : Martha Graham " limited edition iconic large fine art lithograph print is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The fine art lithograph print is published by The Carnegie Museum of Art ( CMOA ) in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, the city of Warhol's birthplace. Printed in a series of limited edition color lithograph prints by the museum in 1986. The print is signed in plate, hand numbered 1401/2400 from the edition of 2400, CMOA stamp on the reverse back side. It features an iconic artwork image created by Warhol titled " Satyric Festival Song : Martha Graham ".
Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, artworks, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is recognized as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.
Martha Graham ( 1894 - 1991 ) was an influential American Modern dancer and choreographer. Her style, The Graham Technique, reshaped American Dance and revolutionized the art form worldwide. He works were intended to " reveal the inner human ". Over more than 50 years she created more than 180 works, in most of which she danced herself. She gave Modern Dance a new depth as a vehicle for the intense and forceful expression of primal emotions.
Graham is recognized as a major influential artistic voice of The 20th Century. In her extraordinary artistic legacy she is known as The Mother of Modern Movement. Her profound importance and influence to Modern Dance is considered equivalent to what Pablo Picasso is to Modern visual arts, Igor Stravinsky is to music, and Frank Llyod Wright is to architecture. She was the first dancer to perform at The White House, and received the highest civilian honor award in The United States : The Presidential Medal of Freedom with Distinction, among many other prestigious accolades and international awards.
To commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of Martha Graham Dance Center of Contemporary Dance in New York, Warhol created The Martha Graham Portfolio based on source images taken by the photographer Barbara Morgan. In the Martha Graham works, Warhol compliments Graham by showing a variation of her abilities not just as a dancer, but as someone who communicates profound emotion through movement and physical expression. The result is an iconic collaborative image of two of the greatest creative artists of The Twentieth Century.
The rare out of print large lithograph print measures 23 5/8" W X 23 5/8" H. It is printed on high quality heavyweight premium paper stock with vibrant ink colors in a matte finish.
