1920s Art Deco silver-washed pot metal brooch. The stylized design of a gathered bouquet starts with a bow at the bottom of the stems set with a square-cut citrine crystal; above that, supple fronds arch exuberantly in all directions, embellished with teardrop citrine crystals and small amethyst rounds. Crowning it all and drawing the eye is an enormous sunflower blossom centered with a huge open-back oval faceted citrine crystal. Significant in weight and size and effect, this classic brooch embodies the themes of beauty in nature that were a hallmark of the early Deco period. The open backs on the citrine crystals allow light to flow through and around the stones, making them shimmer and shine in a subtle display of magnificence. Condition is excellent. 3.5"L x 2.75"W. less
