This Henri Matisse rare vintage 1973 iconic Modernist lithograph print " La Musique " 1938, is a very special and unique piece to add to your collection.
Henri Matisse ( 1869 - 1954 ) the French born artist is known for both his sense of color and fluid aesthetic. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define radical Contemporary Art of The Twentieth Century. His mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art. Artworks by Matisse are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The Modernist lithograph print is a page from an authentic vintage artists publication printed in Japan in 1973, published by Harry N. Abrams Inc. Publishers, New York. It features an artwork image originally created by Matisse in 1939 titled " La Musique ".
The lithograph print plate image is attached to the page with a process called " tipping " where it is attached by hand on the left side edge. There is unrelated text on the reverse back side of the page that refers to a different artwork image.
The print plate image measures 8 5/8" W X 8 3/4" H, on a page that is 9 3/8" W X 12" H. This print is suitable for framing.
It is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling. It has never been framed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price. less
