Offered is a circa. mid 1960s Arthur Salm labeled Teak wood turned and lathed set of salad bowls and serving utensils made in Thailand.
Arthur Salm (1904–1988) was a German interned in the Dachau Concentration Camp during WWII. Surviving Dachau, he immigrated to the United States in the 1930's and in 1952 formed Arthur Salm Inc. in Chicago, Illinois.
Salm was a product designer and reseller of the highest quality mid-Century modern quality flatware and table-top. His medium of choice was stainless steel and he is remembered best for his shop's elegant cutlery serving pieces. His Teak wood and stainless steel wares were often made in Thailand, although he designed items made in Germany, Japan and Scandinavian countries as well.
The serving bowl measures 10" in diameter, has a flat round base that is 8.25" in diameter, and is 4.875" in height.
The five salad bowls measure 5.75" in diameter, have flat round bases that are 5" in diameter, and are 2" in height.
The wood serving utensils, a spoon and fork, measure 2.375" x 12.25 x 0.375"
The set comes with its original certificate of authenticity and care instructions.

They come with their original certificate of authenticity and bear their original stickers still adhered, and there are no nicks, chips, cracks, fissures, stains, or utensil scratches (see photos). They have been gently washed, air-dried, and revived with food-safe oil and beeswax to nourish and preserve the wood. Any wear is commensurate with their age. less
