This Max Bill very rare vintage 1974 serigraph silkscreen print custom framed Mid Century Modernist large exhibition poster is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Modernist exhibition poster print is published by The Albright-Knox Art Gallery, printed in 1974 in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the exhibition. It features an Abstract Geometric Mid Century Modernist artwork created by the artist Max Bill.
The exhibition originated at The Albright-Knox Art Gallery Buffalo, New York and traveled to The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and The San Francisco Museum of Art.
This is a rare opportunity for true Max Bill and Modernism fans and collectors both as this coveted image exhibition poster print is long out of print and very scarce to find.
Max Bill ( 1908 - 1994 ) was a Swiss architect, painter, typeface, industrial, and graphic designer. Bill is considered the single most decisive influence on Swiss graphic design beginning in the 1950's. He was a student at The Bauhaus School in Germany, where he studied under Josef Albers, Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee. During this time he began to formulate the principles of The Concrete Art Movement by expanding theories of Theo Van Doesburg, strongly guided by his training. Bill would become an influential figure in furthering the traditions of The Bauhaus designs.
His work is characterized by a clarity of design and precise proportions. As an artist he sought to create forms which visually represent the new physic of The Early 20th Century. The Modernist Bauhaus influenced art works of Max Bill are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The rare out of print large format framed Modernist exhibition poster print measures 25 1/8" W X 37 1/8" H X 1 1/2" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern medium charcoal gray matte eggshell finish museum box style wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse bak side for easy wall installation.
