Signed lower right, 'E Gatechair' for Eileen Stigall Gatechair (American, 1916- 2010) and dated, lower left, October 1986.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Eileen Stigall attended the University of Illinois where she obtained a Bachelors and Masters in commercial art and design. At university, she met her future husband, Robert Gatechair, who was also to become a notable artist. Throughout her life, Eileen Gatechair continued to paint and draw and later became active in the arts community, serving on the Boards of the Barrington Arts Council and volunteering with the Chicago Art Institute.
