Detailed American Federal églomisé, or reverse painted giltwood mirror featuring a small sailing vessel in stormy seas, framed by green and pink fronds with gold grapes. The mirror frame is classical in form with gilt and mahoganized decoration. The four corner squares have applied brass florets.
The American Federal period is generally defined from 1790 to 1830.
The mirror and painting are in very good vintage condition for its age, although there is some loss to gilding. The mirror glass, reverse painting, frame all appear to be original.
It measures 15.5" x 30" and is 1.75". less
