I believe the wood is mahogany.
I am the original owner and purchased this new in the early 1990's at either Maitland-Smith in High Point, NC or Councill Furniture in Denton, NC. There is no makers label, so I cannot verify the maker with certainty. That said, I can verify that this is a quality piece of furniture made by or for a high-end furniture company. less
