Coppola and Toppo designed this fabulous rare cuff bracelet in the 1950s. The bracelet boasts a brass framing and is ornate with multi-strands of beads brought together to form a striking intricate design.
As with all of their necklaces and bracelets, the row of beads appears to have been made from a single, taut thread. This construction creates a subtle and elegant twist belying its true complexity and creating this unusual, flowing design. The clear powder pink and salmon pink multifaceted crystal beads absorb and reflect the light beautifully. The signature is on the underside marked: made in Italy by Coppola e Toppo.
Good condition, with minor wear on the metal framing, but it does not significantly affect the overall appearance for a piece of this age.
Measurements: inside across is 2.32 in x 2.07 in. (5.8 x 5.2 cm) - largest width is 1.63 in wide (4.1 cm) - the opening is 1.13 in wide (2.8 cm) - inner circumference is 7.50 in long (19 cm) - the bracelet will best fit a Medium size wrist of 7.07 in circumference (18 cm).
Note: Coppola e Toppo was founded in the late 1940s by Milanese siblings Bruno Coppola and Lydia Toppo, but it wasn’t until the 1960s, when Christian Dior commissioned runway pieces from them, that the brand took off. Between the 1950s and the late 1970s, Coppola e Toppo became highly successful with their brand collections both in Europe and the USA. They collaborated with many other fashion houses and designers, including Balenciaga, Valentino, Emilio Pucci, Elsa Schiaparelli, Yves Saint Laurent, and Roberta di Camerino. Their work is elegant, elaborate, and bold, masterfully mixing glass and crystal beads with Swarovski crystals and Lucite.
