A fantastic and confidently executed expressionist mid-century composition, painted in oil onto board.
A large brown vase filled with striking orange and yellow flowers punctuates the foreground of the painting, and with a view of a vast sea with sailing boats behind it. Tucked away on the left-hand side of the composition stands a small orange hut. Its striking hue contrasts beautifully against the darker blue ocean.
Executed in an expressive manner, the artist demonstrates strong emotion in the piece through the use of rich colours that infuses the scene with energy, as well as bold and confident brushstrokes that create a textural visual impact.
