The interior is decorated with finely carved, radiating, bamboo stalks centered on an inset, Wu Fu Peng Shou medallion, all in bas-relief. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century.

The rebus of "Wu Fu Peng Shou" (五褔捧壽): consists of five Fu Bats (representing the five blessings: long life, wealth, health, virtue and peaceful death) surrounding the Chinese Shou character of longevity. The rebus is regarded as a powerful and auspicious motif among the Chinese society. less
