This " LaChapelle Land : Photographs by David LaChapelle " rare vintage 1996 first limited edition extra large hardcover iconic Pop Art photography book with box cover is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The numbered 1st edition hardcover book with laminated cover boards is enclosed in a two-part protective box cover. Published in 1996 by Simon & Schuster Editions, developed and produced by Callaway Edtions Inc. New York. Book design by Toshiya Masuda. collages on the covers of the book and box designed by Tadanori Yokoo, Tokyo Japan, they were printed in silkscreen by Okabe Print Edition Ltd of Kanagawa, Japan. This book is edition number No. 17233.
David LaChapelle ( B. 1963 ) is an American photographer, music video director and film director. He is best known for his work in fashion, photography, which often references art history and sometimes conveys social messages. His photographic style has been described as Hyper-Real and slyly subversive and as Kitsch Pop Surrealism. Once called The Fellini of Photography, LaChapelle has worked for an impressive list of international publications and has had his work in many of the most prestigious galleries and institutions worldwide.
David LaChapelle is one of the most influential Contemporary photographers working today. Originally trained as a fine artist, he turned to photography as a teenager, first working professionally for Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine. His career grew steadily ever since, and exploded with the development of his signature style in the early 1990's.
This iconic volume features LaChapelle's most striking photographs from the incomparably wide range of his work, with more than 150 of his best images brought together. A lively afterword by him provides a glimpse into his unique world. Legendary Japanese graphic artist Tadanori Yokoo designed the box and book's covers, using elements from LaChapelle's images, especially for this book.
The rare out of print extra large format hardcover Pop Art photography book in box cover measures 11 1/4" W 14 1/4" H X 3/4" D, with 152 pages. It ids printed on premium paper stock featuring 151 photograph illustrations, and a 4-sided fold out illustrated index of images pamphlet.
