Description: We are selling this great 19th Century American Theorem painted on Velvet. This theorem has unique composition in that it … more We are selling this great 19th Century American Theorem painted on Velvet. This theorem has unique composition in that it has the typical fruits and decoration of other samplers but the central decoration is a tilted bowl, making it an early example of abstraction. The theorem has label on the back from when it was exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art New YOrk as part of Objects As Subjects, it appears to have maybe been in 1945. The provenance is that of Dorothy Miller former Curator of MOMA during that period.

Condition: Some staining and discoloration to the velvet with a line where an old frame may have shaded part.
