Awesome pair of mid-century modern or MCM slipper chairs in black faux leather or Naugahyde by Paoli Chair Co. done in the style of Florence Knoll. Original tag on one chair dated 1968. They are in good original condition. There are a few repaired nicks and dings on the vinyl, but they still look beautiful. See photos. Circa 1968.
The perfect pair of mid-century modern chairs for just about any room in your home! Just like a little black dress, they’ll go anywhere, and you can dress them up or dress them down. Comprised of button tucked tight backs and seats in black faux leather or Naugahyde with square chromed steel tube legs and frame. These are done in the style of the famed model #65 chair designed by Florence Knoll but with four buttons and not six and a tube frame and not solid. The Paoli Chair Co. was founded in 1926 in Paoli, Indiana. By 1954, Paoli had become the largest manufacturer of occasional chairs in the world. This success continued into the 1960s. In the 1970s Paoli made a switch from the residential market to the commercial market. Now they have been absorbed and the Indiana plant closed as part of HNI Corporation with sister companies the likes of HON, Allsteel, and Gunlocke. You need to own this little piece of Mid-Century Modern history. Make these handsome chairs yours.
