This Really is an Exceptionally Beautiful Original Antique - Victorian Sewing Basket. Circa Late 19th Century. It is Completely and Elaborately Hand Made - Hand Woven Out of Wicker - Wood Splint and Sweetgrass as well as Intertwined with Light Blue Satin Ribbon. It also has a Matching Tufted Satin Bottom Basin. Based on the Light Blue Satin Used in the Making. I believe that it is American in Origin and it is Quite Possible that it was Shaker Made ( This was Used in Many of the Shaker Community Baskets that They Produced ). These Types of Sewing Baskets were Used to Contain and Carry the Typical Sewing and Embroidery Items such as Tools,Threads, Shuttles & Bobbins, Scissors, Measures Etc. There is Also a Small Mounted Side Basket that would Most Likely Been used for Thimbles & Needle Cases Etc. The 2 Side Carry Handles are Somewhat Moveable. Note that the Bottom Still Retains an Original Paper Label with Numbers - Notations. It is in Excellent Overall Original Condition For it Age and Displays Beautifully. It Looks Like it has been Unused and Stored Properly for Many Years. Minor Imperfections Noted - The Blue Side Ribbons are Somewhat Faded and There is Some Fraying Here and There.
It Measures Overall Approx. 4 1/2 inches Tall x 14 1/2 inches Long x 11 inches Wide.
