Rare metal umbrella holder designed by Mathieu Mategot, for Artimeta. Showed in the 1956 Mategot Catalogue of the Artimeta factory, called product nr 47: ‘Porte Parapluie Mural ' with picture of exact this model.
During the fifties, Matégot designed a series of metal furniture and household products for Dutch company Artimeta, all limited produced. Together with Hala and Anvia, Artimeta was one of the Dutch companies who became succesful producing small metal furniture and lighting designs in a new, innovative European style. Their origin can be found in the work of Arteluce and Stilnovo designs.
The main designer and owner of the company was Floris Fiedeldij.
Together with designers Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouve, Mategot created worldwide respect for French modernist design.
