Does not affect integrity of seat really, but is visually disconnected. -There are also several pictures spots where the corners of the bentwood has a visible small split or chink or split in it, as shown; and marks to the finish. Great condition for age, especially the cane. - on the back of the chair, there is a screw that has a wooden cover on one chair, and is missing on the other, as pictured. less

Pair of unique Bentwood Thonet Dining Chairs with cane seats. The delicate arches cross and connect at the rear loop shaped leg brace.
Makers mark is shown on a paper sticker on the underside of the seat that lists the name "THONET" and address of "14-16-18 East 32nd Street - Near 5th Avenue New York". Based on the GT on the Logo, this chair was made in Vienna before WWI. After WWI, the logo only had a T, vice a GT.
"Beware of Imitations. No goods genuine without this trademark" "Which Assures the Highest Standard of Workmanship and Quality."
On the opposite underside of the chair a sticker says "Patented March 29th 1915. New Caned seat tops with which to repair this chair can be procured form your dealer.....". There is a wood mark patent for 1906. and a metal mark for SEP 1914.
The back upper wooden frame says "Patent applied for" in imprint. And there is another hardly legible patent mark. Marks of age. less
