This Really is an Absolutely Beautiful Authentic Antique English Document Box. It Comes from The Late Georgian Period - Circa Early 19th Century. It is Completely Hand Made out of Solid Oak with Very Fine Workmanship in the Construction that includes Hand Cut Dovetail Joint Corners. The Top of the Box - Lid Also has Some Added Inlay Decoration. The Underside - Lid Interior is Inset Mounted with a Very Unusual Original Early Glass Mirror. Note that The Silver Substance Behind the Mirror has Oxidized - All but Disintegrated with Age Over the Years - This Being Quite Common with Some of the Earliest Glass Mirrors that were Produced. The Finish Appears to be Original and has a Wonderful Color & Natural Aged Patina. It is in Very Nice Overall Condition and Displays Beautifully. The Hinges are Not Not Original and It is Missing he Lock Mechanism but the Brass Keyhole Cover - "Escutcheon" is Original. It has Had Some Minor and Very Well Done - Professional Restoration to the Some of the Footed Base Areas. Note that The Silver Substance Behind the Glass Mirror has Oxidized - All but Disintegrated with Age Over the Years - This Being Quite Common with Some of the Earliest Glass Mirrors that were Produced. The Right Back Side Corner Dovetail Joint has a Slight Imperfection as a Result of the Oak Being Slightly Warped - This Would have Naturally Occurred Due to Climate as the Wood Seasoned and Dried Over the Years.
It Measures Overall Approx. 9 1/4 inches Tall x 17 1/2 inches Long x 10 inches Wide.
