(1917 - 2008)
Joe Shere was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He worked as darkroom printer and apprentice photographer. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and became the Chief of Photo Division. In 1936 his brother, Sam Shere, shot the prize winning Hindenburg disaster photograph. After the war he went to Hollywood and was a photographer for various publications. Joe shot the famous image of Jayne Mansfield and Sophia Loren. less
