An ‘Il Colonnato’ dining table designed by Mario Bellini for Cassina in the 1970s. This table was inspired by the colonnades of classical architecture, in which a sequence of columns supports a portico. Its profile changes from different viewpoints, allowing the columns to appear overlapping or separate.
It was constructed using Persian red travertine with gorgeous veining in a range of coral, orange and pink hues. It features a square table top and stands on five solid cylindrical marble legs. The legs are elegantly tapered legs, a technique only achieved by experienced marble sculptors. The legs can be repositioned at various positions to support the table top. It seats four comfortably. Unmarked. Sourced in Italy, 1970s.
