The Mid Century Modernist art book is published by Piper-Bucherei, printed in Germany in 1956 in an unnumbered limited edition by Thormann & Goetsch, Berlin, copyright 1856 by R. Piper & Co. Verlag Munchen. It features a monograph survey of the fine art aquarelle artworks by Ernst Wilhelm Nay, with accompanied German language text.

Ernst Wilhelm Nay ( 1902 - 1968 ) was a German born painter and graphic designer of Classical Modernism. He is considered one of the most important painters of German Post-War Art. A student of painting in the 1920's at The Berlin Academy for Fine Arts, he achieved early success when his paintings were purchased by major German museums on the basis of his strong individual combination of Expressionist and Surrealist painting styles. Continuing in his creative exploration Nay developed an abstract language of painting combining a highly expressive graphic style and deep sensitivity to color and tonality. This Modern pictorial Abstraction represents the pinnacle of Nay's artistic achievement.
Artworks by Nay are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums including National Galerie Berlin, Museum Ludwig Koln, Kunstmuseum Basel, Tate Modern London, Guggenheim Museum New York, Albright-Knox Art Gallery Buffalo, among many others.
The rare out of print Mid Century Modernist fine art book measures 7 3/8" W X 4 7/8" H X 1/4" D, with 52 pages. It features 16 full page color fine art lithograph print illustrations.
