We chose this marbleized … more This king size headboard is absolutely spectacular. Deeply carved style knotted fabric design with upholstered inset. We chose this marbleized bookend printed fabric. The colors are so beautiful and the swirled design not only mimics the swirls in the headboard frame itself but it reminds me of the ocean in some ways too. The nice thing is that reupholstering this is very easy if you chose to do so. The inset which is quite heavy and well made is held in with little brackets that turn so the inset easily comes out. See the last photo and enlarge it to see what I mean. This is a vintage item and as I am sure you know the vintage beds were much lower than todays with their thick mattresses and boxsprings so we added an additional five inches to raise this up to be better suited for todays styles and thick mattresses. To attach a metal bedframe you can either drill holes to fit your frame ( these are very easily available almost everywhere and inexpensive) or you can get brackets that hold the metal frame to the headboard. This could be the focal point for a very dramatic and beautiful bedroom. less
