A wonderful abstract vibrant painting by Italian artist Aligi Sassu (1912 – 2000). The piece is in a very high quality gilt wood frame. The painting is 27.5 inches by 21.5 inches and with the frame 39.5 inches by 33 inches. What I really love about this painting is how it looks so beautiful in different lighting. More vibrant and bright or more subtle and muted.
Aligi Sassu was a painter and sculptor. His paintings are characterized by warm and bright hues, inspired by the Mediterranean atmosphere of Sardinia (his homeland). His works are held by numerous galleries and museums. Aligi Sassu's work has been offered at auction multiple times. The record price for one of his pieces at auction was 115,412 USD for Paesaggio, sold at Sotheby's Milan in 2006. less
