This Andy Warhol Foundation rare offset lithograph print custom framed special edition Pop Art poster " Dennis Hopper " 1970, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Pop Art poster print is published by McGaw Graphics Inc., printed in The United States in 2016 in an unnumbered limited special edition with the licensed authorized rights of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts Inc. It features an artwork image originally created by Warhol in 1970 titled " Dennis Hopper ", copyright 2016 The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts Inc.
This is a rare opportunity for true Warhol and Dennis Hopper fans and collectors both as this coveted special edition Pop Art poster print is out of print, no longer available, and very scarce to find.
Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, artworks, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is recognized as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.
In the " Dennis Hopper " artwork Warhol surpasses portraiture and creates a work that reflects large cultural forces in American. As the counterculture 1960's ended and 1970's dawned, Warhol was obsessed with Hollywood and its celebrity glamour. He portrayed Hopper in a far grittier and more naturalistic way, yet the artwork is just as magnetically appealing. The result is the ultimate masculine cowboy American archetype.
This portrait is based in an image from Hopper's film " The Last Movie ", his second directorial effort after his groundbreaking anti-establishment movie " Easy Rider ". Both Warhol and Hopper participated in the 1970's American New Wave Cinema, where realism reigned, truth was valued, and freedom was favored over judgement and conformity.
The rare out of print framed special edition Pop Art poster print measures 24 1/4" W X 30 1/2" H X 1" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern satin finish black metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
